ATTENTION ALL GRADUATING SENIORS
Lopez Thrift Shop is now accepting applications for two $4,000 scholarships. Applications are due April 18, 2026. Read on for details and application.
Lopez Thrift Shop raises money entirely through retail sales of donated merchandise. Volunteers do all the work: sorting, pricing, storing, displaying, selling and day-to-day cleaning. The Thrift Shop was founded in 1982 to raise money to buy equipment for the Lopez clinic. Since that time the Shop has supported numerous local organizations.
- This year the Lopez Thrift Shop is offering two scholarships, in the amount of $4,000 , for each of two Lopez Island graduating hight school seniors.
- Any graduating senior residing on Lopez island may apply, including those graduating from Lopez Island School, an off-island school, a private school, or those who may be homeschooled.
- Applicants must be planning to attend a two-year or four-year college, or a technical school. The scholarship must be used during the academic year 2026/2027. The award is open to all fields of study.
- Applications may be downloaded from the Thrift Shop website, www.lopezthriftshop.org. and the Lopez Thrift Shop Facebook page. They are also available at the Thrift Shop during open hours (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM). The Thrift Shop is located in the Village at 60 Tower Rd. An application is also attached to this announcement.
- Completed applications must be mailed or delivered to the Thrift Shop by 12:00 PM, noon, on Saturday, April 18, 2026.

NOW ACCEPTING 2026 PROJECT GRANT APPLICATIONS
Through your generous support, Lopez Thrift Shop is able to fund projects that strengthen our community. This is why we’re here — to return our earnings to the Lopez community through meaningful project support. We are inviting eligible Lopez Island nonprofits to apply for a 2026 Project Grant. - A limit of 10 shoppers is allowed in the shop at any one time. Wait for the Greeter to let you know when you may enter.
- Please use hand sanitizer before entering. MASK Optional
- Maintain 6 ft. social distancing while waiting and shopping.
- Try to limit your shopping time to 15 to 20 minutes, especially if others are waiting outside. We appreciate your patience as we are working hard to provide safe shopping opportunities for you.
- You can help us move customers more quickly through the buying process by removing hangars from the clothes you have chosen and placing the hangers in the box provided.
- We accept Credit/Debit cards, cash, personal checks, and cell phone pay apps. Make all checks payable to “Lopez Thrift Shop.” Please include your address and phone number if not already printed on your check.

- We accept your gently used and new items three days per week!
- Please bring your donations to the Lopez Thrift Shop Donation Zone on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays only from 10 AM to 1 PM. All donations will be reviewed by a volunteer for resale. Please bring only items that you would consider buying yourself - no rips, tears, stains, chips, broken parts, etc.
- Clothing will be accepted, but please carefully inspect it first for odors, spots, tears, dog/cat hair, etc. It needs to be in the same condition that you would personally find acceptable and pleasing to buy. If it’s not, we can’t sell it and it becomes a disposal burden for the Shop.
- Thanks so very much for supporting the Lopez Thrift Shop. Many non-profits here on island depend on the Thrift Shop for grants. Your donations help our island community.
